A Bit of Background

Here at Dance ♂n, we are driven by a single goal; to do our part in making the world a better place for all. We work to keep boys dancing, even in the face of adversity. Our hope is to raise awareness around acceptance, anti-bullying, and allowing all people to follow their passions... to #danceon!

Aaron, a high school junior, dances at Steps Dance Center in Aurora, IL. He and his family were dealing with both financial challenges and some family health issues that looked to derail not only his own dance opportunities but cutoff the mentorship to the younger dancers that this young man was bringing to the table. The #danceon scholarship helped to keep him dancing and competing at the studio that he loves! Aaron made sure to tell his studio owner, Rebecca Rosenberg, that he intends to "pay this forward and that he will not let us down". Meet Aaron. Aaron is a dancer. He will #danceon!

Behr, a 10 year old boy, has been dancing since he was five and is a vibrant part of The Dynasty in Aurora. Behr has always had to downplay his love for dance around others. "He used to say he just did hip hop because that at least seemed acceptable. Behr doesn't even say that anymore because of the negative feedback," his mom, Rachel, shared. Behr's family helps out at the studio often to help with the costs of dance. With the help of the #danceon scholarship Behr is able to continue doing what he loves, no matter what others say!

Kamren "K-Tank" Tanksley began dancing two years ago at Midwest Edge. He immediately showed natural potential primarily in hip hop. And you could tell he found his calling by the passion and competitiveness he put into it. But then the coolest, unlooked-for next step came: he wanted to add Jazz to the mix and thats when we knew he was all about it. However, adding new genres and styles grows the cost of competitors, training and costume fees exponentially and how to get there was the challenge. We are so excited to be a part of the solutions with this up and coming talent!

"People have asked me why I chose to be a dancer. I did not choose. I was chosen to be a dancer, and with that, you live all your life."
